Diet for Membranous Nephropathy with High Blood Pressure

Diet plays an important role in our daily life, especially for patients. A proper diet can be helpful to your disease, but an unproper diet may make your disease worse. Then what kind of diet is good for Membranous Nephropathy with high blood pressure ?

1. Avoid high-protein foods

For patients with this disease, you should take protein according to your own disease condition. If you have less urine, edema or high blood pressure, you should not take protein over 20-40g, so as to reduce the burden of the kidney. It is said that plant protein contains large amount of purine which may add work load to the renal, so you’d better avoid to eat them.

2. Control the intake of fluid

For patients with high blood pressure and edema should control the intake of fluid. Daily intake should be controlled in 1200-1500ml, including 800ml water contained in drinks and foods. If the edema is serious, the more you should strictly control the water intake.

3. Do not take high-fat foods

Animal fat is not good for patients with Membranous Nephropathy and hypertension, it can aggravate arteriosclerosis and inhibit hematopoiesis. But without enough fat intake, patients will become weaker and weaker, so you can take some plant oil to replace it, about 60g per day, that can supply energy to meet the demand of your body.

4. Keep away from high-purine and high-nitrogen

In order to reduce the burden of kidney, you should not eat stimulating foods which are high in purine and nitrogen, such as spinach, salary, radish, beans, and soups made of chicken, fish or meat.

5. Avoid use dressing with strong flavor

Dressing such as pepper, chili and mustard are not good to renal, so you should not put them into your dish.

6. Do not eat too much salt

If you are a patient with less urine, after taking too much salt, the symptoms of edema will be aggravated that may lead to heart failure. So you should keep a low-salt diet, the daily salt intake should be controlled below 2-4g
