Prognosis of FSGS

2014-04-14 15:43

Prognosis of FSGSFSGS,called Focal Segmental Glomerulous Sclerosis,is more common in 18-45 years old people. In 1980,there just 0.2% Kidney Failure is caused by FSGS;however,in 2000,the rate of it has increased into 2.6%. In about 7%-10% of renal punctures,FSGS can be found. The number of male patients is 3-4 times in women.

The prognosis of FSGS is based on several factors as follows:

1. Some researchers think the prognosis is closely related to the pathological classification of FSGS.

FSGS has been divided into 4 types:the tip type, peripheral type, classic type and collapse type. This order shows the good or bad prognosis of FSGS.

But there are also some scholars do not think the prognosis is associated with the pathological classification.

2. Proteinuria is a main prognostic indicator.

24 hours’ protein quantitative <3-3.5g/day is called Fully Non-renal Proteinuria. 24 hours’ protein quantitative>3-3.5g/day is called Comprehensive Proteinuria in renal. 24 hours’ special protein quantitative>10g/day is called malignant proteinuria.

The renal survival rate of Fully Non-renal Proteinuria patients in 5 years and 10 years is 92% and 90%.

Patients with malignant proteinuria may suffer from Kidney Failure in 3-5 years.

The renal survival rate of Comprehensive Proteinuria is 76% and 57%.

3. Relieved degree is the most useful indicator.

About 15% of Patients who are in complete and partial remission may worsen into Kidney Failure in 5 years. While about 50% of patients without remission may suffer from Kidney Failure.

4. Creatinine level.

About 73% of patients with Cr >1.3mg/dL (>114mmol/dL) may develop kidney failure in 10 years;while there no patients with Cr <1.3mg/dL (<114mmol/dL) who suffer from the kidney failure.

So to test the creatinine plays an more important role in judging whether it will worsen into Kidney Failure.

5. Different race.

6. Response to the hormone

These above are the probable factors that may effect the prognosis. It may can not reflect your disease condition. Leave message on below or Email to kidneyservice@hotmail.com with your detailed condition,we will offer you more professional guidance for you as soon as possible.
