Elevated BUN and Creatinine in Kidney Disease

2016-09-28 14:04

Elevated BUN and Creatinine in Kidney DiseaseUnder normal situation, the healthy kidneys make the waste products like creatinine and urine nitrogen to be filtered and excreted from the body in urine. If we leave out other factors, the damaged kidneys cannot work normally, thus to cause elevated BUN and creatinine levels.

The elevated creatinine symptoms may include a low-grade fever, fatigue, lethargy or a generalized sense of malaise. More elevated creatinine symptoms like loss of appetite, changes in weight, dehydration, headache, shortness of breath, even a change in mental state will appear if the condition can not be controlled well. With the elevated creatinine levels, some possible symptoms caused by the decline in kidney function include protein in the urine, blood in the urine, edema and decreased urine output, etc.

The elevated BUN symptoms are very similar with those elevated creatinine symptoms. But a strange symptoms of elevated BUN can occur. One of the more odd elevated BUN symptoms is an ammonia-like taste in your mouth as well as a strong odor of bad breath. Patients may also experience mouth sores and small abrasions inside the mouth that are tender and painful.

Most of the elevated BUN and creatinine symptoms can be relieved and treated by some western medicines prescribed by your doctor to some extent. But it seems that the loss of kidney function can not be stopped. In many other countries, when the creatinine levels increase to a certain degree, dialysis will be recommended.
