CKD stage 4: There is severe reduction in GFR (15-29 mL/min/1.73m2) when Chronic Kidney Disease progresses to stage 4. In this stage, patients are usually suggested to prepare for dialysis or kidney transplant.

CKD stage 5: CKD stage 5 or End Stage Renal Failure(ESRD) is diagnosed when GFR decreases to be lower than 15. Dialysis or kidney transplant are usually needed for life safety.

The corresponding creatinine level of five stage

In stage 1 the creatinine level is lower than 1.5 mg/dl

In stage 2 the creatinine level is higher than 1.5 mg/dl and lower than 2.0 mg/dl

In stage 3 the creatinine level is higher than 2.0ml/dl and lower than 5.0mg/dl

In stage 4 the creatinine level is higher than 5.0ml/dl and lower than 8.0 mg/dl

In stage 5 the creatinine level is higher than 8.0 mg/dl
