What Factors are Related with Decline of Kidney Function

2016-11-23 15:20

What Factors are Related with Decline of Kidney FunctionIn general, the kidney failure caused by diabetes, glomerulonephritis and PKD (polycystic kidney disease) progress much faster than those caused by hypertensive nephropathy as well as renal tubular interstitial nephropathy. Among all these diseases, diabetic nephropathy patients obtain the fastest decline rate of kidney function.

What factors may related with decline of kidney function?

Factors like massive proteinuria, low levels of seralbumin, high blood pressure, poorly controlled blood sugar and smoking are taking part in the decline of kidney function.

How to slow down the decline of kidney function?

1. Taking good control of high blood pressure

125/75mmHg is the ideal blood pressure for those with proteinuria exceeding 1g.

135/85mmHg is needed when one’s albuminruia is lower than 1g.

140/90mmHg is recommended for those who have already suffered from stage 5 of CKD (also known as Renal Failure, whose creatinine is more than 450).

2. Low level of protein diet is limits on preventing the decline of kidney function.

Thereby, we only recommend low protein diet when the patients’ GFR is less than 29ml/min.

3. The good control of blood glucose also are helpful for preventing decline of kidney function, but no sound evidence could support that lowering blood fat could postpone the development of kidney disease.
